I think it is better to go with what is wise rather than what is right. The censor board, it seems, has suddenly become strict kuch khaas logon ke liye. Many of the words that Pahlaj Nihalani wants to ban as censor board chief he has used in his films that you have starred in. When I had little work, Calcutta gave me the maximum shows. I had done a Bengali film (Mastan, a bilingual venture) earlier as well. You even did a Bengali film ( Samadhi) recently.Ĭalcutta is very close to my heart. Earlier too, I got offers to judge dance reality shows. Now I believe whatever role is coming my way is god’s gift.
Earlier I used to think before I accepted a role. After 2014, I think before I refuse the work that is coming my way. When I did a villain’s role (in Kill/Dil), people raised eyebrows again. I too was thinking if I could pull it off. When I did Partner (with Salman Khan), my own family members started asking me if I would look believable as an innocent bumpkin after being in politics. You have experimented more with your roles in your second innings as actor. If you do not belong to something, you end up disturbing it. And promise me not to scare me with such questions ( laughs). One has no inkling about the language, or what is being said, even then it works! Jis mein bahut zyada kisses na ho! ( Laughs) Mujhe zyadatar woh achchha lagta hai jo boring na lage. What kind of television do you enjoy watching?
I like artistes who show innovation and I will also watch their expressions. I have hope that the mothers will show something that has never been seen before.
